Rocky II (7.3/10)

This felt like a fairly basic sequel. It delivers exactly what audiences who loved the original would expect, but I found myself hoping for a bolder direction instead of a familiar continuation. Like the first film, it builds toward an epic boxing showdown that provides plenty of excitement and emotional payoff. However, the overall story plays it safe, focusing more on extending the success of its predecessor than carving out a distinct identity of its own. Rather than feeling like a standalone chapter, this movie comes across as a bridge that naturally sets up the next installment. It’s an enjoyable follow-up with strong moments, but it never quite reaches the impact or originality that made the first film such a classic.
