A short Irish drama/musical that feels somewhat outdated despite its 2007 release — visually, it could easily be mistaken for something shot in the '90s. I don't think anyone should add this to their list despite its great reviews. The story is simple and sweet, centering on a vacuum repairman (Glen Hansard) who moonlights as a street musician, dreaming of his big break. When a Czech immigrant (Markéta Irglová), who sells flowers to make ends meet, discovers his music, she reveals her own ambitions as a singer-songwriter. The two begin to collaborate, and the heartfelt songs they write together mirror the quiet, developing connection between them.
