Dog Day Afternoon (9.3/10)

I love a well-produced film based on a true story, and Dog Day Afternoon is a perfect example of one. Even though it was released in 1975, this crime thriller still lives up to its reputation and remains just as engaging today. The production holds up remarkably well, proving that great filmmaking can stand the test of time. Al Pacino delivers an outstanding performance as Sonny Wortzik, bringing intensity, emotion, and authenticity to every scene. John Cazale is equally impressive, and the chemistry between the two helps elevate the tension throughout the film. The acting as a whole is exceptional, making it easy to see why this movie has earned such high praise over the years. Rather than relying on nonstop action, the film builds suspense through strong performances, sharp dialogue, and believable character interactions. "When inexperienced criminal Sonny Wortzik (Al Pacino) leads a bank robbery in Brooklyn, things quickly go wrong, and a hostage situation develops. As Sonny and his accomplice, Sal Naturile (John Cazale), try desperately to remain in control, a media circus develops, and the FBI arrives, creating even more tension.
