This 2025 Japanese and Chinese-language film delivers striking cinematography alongside a portrayal of the 1937 Nanjing Massacre. It’s a visually compelling yet emotionally heavy experience, with overwhelming grief and brutality. The film doesn’t shy away from its subject matter. It’s dark and filled with scenes of loss and violence that reflect the reality of the time. While difficult to watch at times is what makes it impactful.
