Dan In Real Life (7.8/10)

This is a 2007 film starring Steve Carell, and it's a bit of a bummer that they don't really make movies like this anymore. There's just a different feel to films from the 90s and early 2000s that's hard to replicate, and this one has it. I really can't complain about much here, my only knocks are that it gets a little silly at times and you can see basically everything coming from a mile away. Still, it gets the job done and is an enjoyable watch overall. "Widower Dan Burns gives family advice in his column, but struggles with raising his three daughters alone. After arriving at Dan's parents' for a family get together, their bickering drives him to take refuge in the local bookshop, where he meets and swiftly falls for charming Marie. However, the revelation that Marie is in fact the new girlfriend of Dan's brother brings their fragile flirtation to a shuddering halt."
