- Black Widow (8.1/10)
I am bias towards Marvel movies, however, this is a film where you can watch without knowing a lot of background on the Marvel series. It provides A+ action starring Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh, who were both great. It goes into detail the background to the Black Widow backstory and a sets up a future movie perfectly in the end-credit scene.
- The Tomorrow War (7.6/10)
Surpassed my expectations entirely. It is an action/sci-fi film starring Chris Pratt. The world is stunned when a group of time travellers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: thirty years in the future, mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. You have to enjoy futuristic sci-fi movies in order to like this one. It isn't meant for everyone.
- Zack Snyder's Justice League (6.6/10)
Probably one of the most overrated films I have seen in a long time. After watching a couple Marvel movies over the weekend to compare; the acting, the characters, and the storylines did not meet my expectations. While this remake was better than the other Justice League, it was still too long and boring at times. Not a fan.
- Stowaway (6.3/10)
A three-person crew on a mission to Mars faces an impossible choice when an unplanned passenger jeopardizes the lives of everyone on board. The storyline was unique for a space themed movie, but it was too boring and didn't keep my attention. The ending was unexpected and well executed.
- The Ice Road (5.7/10)
It was a classic Liam Neeson film, an action thriller where he somehow knows how to fight without any previous experience shown in the film. After a remote diamond mine collapses in the far northern regions of Canada, an ice driver leads an implausible rescue mission over a frozen ocean to save the lives of trapped miners despite thawing waters and a threat they never see coming. The twist in the movie made it more interesting to watch but I would skip it even though it is trending #1 on Netflix.
- Freaky (7.6/10)
This was a horror comedy with Vince Vaughn. It is about a cold-blooded serial killer who switches bodies with a teenage girl. It was a goofy movie that caught my attention but I didn't think it was worth the high ratings it received. You don’t have to think too hard during this movie, just enjoy what Vince Vaughn was able to produce.
- Z (6.5/10)
An 8 year-old has spends a lot of time playing with a new imaginary friend named Z. What at first seems like a harmless relationship, quickly turns into something destructive and dangerous. This was your typical horror film. Could be worth watching if you are really into horror and want to watch a quick movie, otherwise, I would pass on it.
- The Silencing (7.1/10)
There was not much set up or context to this movie. It is your classic serial killer on the move without a lot of background or depth of story. That is why its critics score on rotten tomatoes is so low, while its audience score played very well.
- Get Duked (3.8/10)
A camping trip in the Scottish Highlands turns into a fight for survival when four teens become the target of vicious hunters. This movie was horrendous. The accents were brutal, the acting was terrible, and the storyline was cringe. I don't know why I watched the whole movie.
- Chimera Strain (3.3/10)
I turned this movie off after 30 minutes, the acting was horrible, and the storyline did not draw me in. It is about a scientist freezing his children alive while he races to cure their deadly genetic disease by decoding the DNA of the turritopsis jellyfish. Just not worth the time.
- Those Who Wish Me Dead (7.5/10)
Surprisingly a entertaining film. While the movie left you on some cliffhangers, it was more about the action than the story. It is worth watching Angelina Jolie star in a gritty role.
- Fast 9 (4.7/10)
What a bust. Going into this movie, you have to treat it as a joke. The stunts and action scenes are too absurd to comprehend. However, the storyline of Dominic Torreto's past involving his family was important and interesting to watch.
