Good film but nothing crazy. Its rotten scores were 91% critics / 89% audience so I had high expectations. It was too quick of a film and too surface level to give a higher score than the 8s range. This 1984 is good just a bit outdated for my liking. It was also so long, about 4 hours. It took me a couple days to watch since I didn't just have 4 hours available. Robert De Niro gave a great performance. There was a bit more violent nature than I would have thought or liked. "In 1968, the elderly David "Noodles" Aaronson (Robert De Niro) returns to New York, where he had a career in the criminal underground in the '20s and '30s. Most of his old friends, like longtime partner Max (James Woods), are long gone, yet he feels his past is unresolved. Told in flashbacks, the film follows Noodles from a tough kid in a Jewish slum in New York's Lower East Side, through his rise to bootlegger and then Mafia boss -- a journey marked by violence, betrayal and remorse."

Someone between the ages of 8 - 11 years old might like this film. That's how I would describe it.

Scary moments but overall terrible. I only watched this because the 2nd and 3rd movies of the series got pretty good reviews. I will probably give the 2nd one a go for 30 minutes and if it is too similar I will pass on watching the third. A 2005 film directed by Steven Speilberg. I think when this movie came out in 2005 it was ahead of its time. I was entertained but I wanted more. There were a lot of unanswered questions. " Dockworker Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) struggles to build a positive relationship with his two children, Rachel (Dakota Fanning) and Robbie (Justin Chatwin). When his ex-wife, Mary Ann (Miranda Otto), drops them off at Ferrier's house, it seems as though it will be just another tension-filled weekend. However, when electromagnetic pulses of lightning strike the area, the strange event turns out to be the beginning of an alien invasion, and Ferrier must now protect his children as they seek refuge."

A solid RomCom from 2000 that got above 90% on rotten tomatoes for critic and audience. I didn't enjoy the main character's compaining the whole film but other than that the ending was great and it was unique. " Rob Gordon (John Cusack) is the owner of a failing record store in Chicago, where he sells music the old-fashioned way -- on vinyl. Although they have an encyclopedic knowledge of pop music and are consumed by the music scene, it's of no help to Rob, whose needle skips the love groove when his long-time girlfriend, Laura (Iben Hjejle), walks out on him. As he examines his failed attempts at romance and happiness, the process finds him being dragged, kicking and screaming, into adulthood."

A romantic/Comedy starring Jack Nicholson from 1997. I think there a lot better RomComs from the 90s but this was still worth watching. " Melvin Udall (Jack Nicholson) is an obsessive-compulsive writer of romantic fiction who's rude to everyone he meets, including his gay neighbor Simon (Greg Kinnear), but when he has to look after Simon's dog, he begins to soften and, if still not completely over his problems, finds he can conduct a relationship with the only waitress (Helen Hunt) at the local diner who'll serve him."

Another De Niro film but from 1988. This one felt more outdated than the King of Comedy that I just watched. Solid all around just a bit outdated for me. " When Eddie Moscone (Joe Pantoliano) hires tight-lipped bounty hunter Jack Walsh (Robert De Niro) to locate a mob accountant named "The Duke" (Charles Grodin) and bring him to L.A., Eddie tells Jack that the job will be simple, or a "midnight run." But when Jack finds The Duke, the FBI and the mob are anxious to get their hands on him. In a cross-country chase, Jack must evade the authorities, hide from the mob and prevent The Duke's erratic personality from driving him mad."

A 1982 crime/thriller starring Robert De Niro. I thought it was going to be a comedy but it clearly wasn't. Even though it was was created in the early 80s, it didn't seem outdated. I enjoyed it all around. " Rupert Pupkin (Robert De Niro) is a failure in life but a celebrity in his own mind, hosting an imaginary talk show in his mother's basement. When he meets actual talk show host Jerry Langford (Jerry Lewis), he's convinced it will provide his big break, but Langford isn't interested in the would-be comedian. Undaunted, Pupkin effectively stalks Langford -- and when that doesn't work, he kidnaps him, offering his release in exchange for a guest spot on Langford's show."

This was a good movie, it just wasn't my style. I am not the biggest fan of period pieces from historical England times. Acting and plot were there, I just need a bit more with these types of movies. " In this adaptation of Jane Austen's beloved novel, Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightley) lives with her mother, father and sisters in the English countryside. As the eldest, she faces mounting pressure from her parents to marry. When the outspoken Elizabeth is introduced to the handsome and upper-class Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen), sparks fly. Although there is obvious chemistry between the two, Darcy's overly reserved nature threatens the fledgling relationship."

I have been told the book is way better, however, I have not read the book and had no idea what it was about, which I think elevated my score. I had no expectations like friends who have read the book. The beginning was a bit cringe but as the film went along it got better. " Lily Bloom moves to Boston to chase her lifelong dream of opening her own business. A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid soon sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, she begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents' relationship. When Lily's first love, Atlas Corrigan, suddenly reenters her life, her relationship with Ryle gets upended, leaving her with an impossible choice."

I miss these action/thrillers from the 2000s. This is a classic Denzel movie that was probably unique for its time. I recommend adding to your list if you missed this movie like I did. " The team of top-secret program brings ATF agent Doug Carlin (Denzel Washington) into its midst to capture the terrorist (Jim Caviezel) responsible for a ferry bombing that left hundreds dead. Its amazing technology lets the team fold time four days backward and see the madman's movements as he plots to kill a woman who could give him away. Doug realizes that the technology could allow him to do what law-enforcement officers dream of -- go back in time to prevent the crime."
